Starting today, we are starting a goods collection for The Women’s Safe House, the oldest and largest organization in the St. Louis area dedicated to helping women and children impacted by domestic abuse. The Women’s Shelter is in need of new or very gently used women’s and children’s clothing and shoes, including school uniforms, various hygiene items, diapers, baby wipes, journals, first aid supplies, alarm clocks, gift cards, bus passes and other essential items for the women, children and teens they serve. You can read their full wish list here.
To make donating even easier, VdM has set up an Amazon wish list. You can order from that list and have the items shipped directly to us. You are also welcome to bring items in at drop-off or pick-up. We will collect goods for The Women’s Safe House from today through Friday, November 10.
And if you missed our last three opportunities to give, please visit the VdM 50 Ways of Giving Facebook page. There, you can find links to support hurricane relief in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico; wild-fire recovery efforts in Northern California; and Spirit of Children, an organization dedicated to helping hospitalized children and their families feel more at ease during traumatic times in their lives. The Facebook page is public, so anyone can view it. While you’re there, feel free to like and share! And thank you!
Each year we set aside a day to show the teachers and staff at Villa how much we as parents appreciate their contributions everyday. Parent volunteers swoop in over the lunch hour to assist in the classrooms and at recess while the staff enjoy a rare opportunity to share a meal together.
We also have volunteers to assist with setup and clean-up, but are needing ten parents (at least two for each classroom) to come to school from around 11:15 - 1:00 to be with the children over lunch and recess. This is a great opportunity to observe your child in their Villa environment! Sign up here.
